Paint Matching

Why a perfect match requires color codes, blending, and proper booth conditions.

Paint matching starts with the factory color code, but two vehicles wearing the same code can look different after years of sun exposure. Refinish technicians spray test cards, compare under multiple light sources, and adjust the formula until the panel sits inside the rest of the vehicle.

Blending into adjacent panels — instead of edge-to-edge spraying — is often the only way to make a metallic or pearl color disappear into the surrounding sheet metal.

Booth temperature, humidity, and film build all influence the final appearance, which is why a rushed refinish rarely matches a careful one.
