Supplements
Why the first estimate is rarely the final estimate once the teardown starts.
The initial estimate is written from what is visible on the outside of the vehicle. Once the shop disassembles the damaged area, hidden damage to inner structure, mounting brackets, and wiring is documented and added as a supplement.
Supplements are normal and expected. They are submitted to the insurer with photos and part numbers, and the file is updated as approvals come back.
A clean supplement process is one of the strongest signs of a well-run shop and an engaged adjuster.
